Shocking news came today as Aryna Sabalenka has withdrawn from the China Open. This was due to an injury, and this is not good news. Sabalenka was in good shape and form since the US Open 2025, and this gives a big setback to her in the tournament and also her career streak. Sabalenka who is also the world No. 1 will be looking to come back stronger and keep up the same pace and form. She also said this in an interview, “Really difficult. I love playing here, the atmosphere is amazing, and the China Open is one of the biggest tournaments on the calendar. But as much as I want to compete, I need to listen to my body.”

Sabalenka’s Injury Forces China Open Exit, Puts Year-End Ranking in Doubt

Well, this exit from the tournament will further raise questions as to whether she will be able to keep the ranking till the year-end. With such a phenomenal performance, this untimely injury would surely be disappointing. China Open was another platform for her to showcase her talent and prove her worth, but this injury would definitely put a pause on that. She also said, “I know it might impact my ranking battle, but my focus is on long-term goals. I want to be ready for the WTA Finals and finish the year strong, so recovery right now is the priority.” This again raises the question that health is the first priority over the ranking, and Sabalenka chose health.

The China Open is a crucial tournament as key players take part, and Sabalenka's exit raises a question about that. The WTA ranking has been good for her, and so was the US Open. There are other upcoming tournaments, and there will be an opportunity for her to keep her ranking intact. Sabalenka is a class apart, and she will gain her way back from the injuries and have a shining comeback.
