Another award night for the cricket world with pride and emotions. The 27th edition of the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) Awards 2025 was held in Mumbai on Tuesday night, with the presence of great cricketers like India’s former captain Rohit Sharma, England’s Joe Root, and West Indies legend Brian Lara. The night was celebrated together from India and around the world for their performances over the past year. The event was hosted by CEAT Tyre to rate the performance of the cricketers in all formats like ODIs, T20s, and Tests. This year, they recognised players from both men’s and women’s cricket in all categories: batting, bowling, and all-round performance.

Major Award Winners

In cricket, awards are always something that excites the players. When the 27th edition was held in Mumbai, the awards ceremony was packed with Rohit Sharma to cricket legend Brian Lara. At the event, Test run-maker of all time, England’s Joe Root received the International Cricketer of the Year for his excellent performances in the Test match, and England batsman Harry Brook was honoured as the Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year. Likewise, Sri Lankan cricketer Prabath Jayasuriya was presented with the Men’s Test Bowler of the Year award. Indian former captain Rohit Sharma earned a special honour for winning the Champions Trophy 2025 title by showcasing his captaincy skills.

Another special moment was Lara's achievement. West Indies legend Brian Lara and another legendary Indian leg-spinner, B.S. Chandrasekhar, were granted a Lifetime Achievement Award for their notable contributions to the cricketing world. They are an inspiration for the upcoming young talent. In the Indian category, the right-handed wicket-keeper-batter, Sanju Samson, was named Men’s T20I Batter of the Year; meanwhile, Spinner  Varun Chakravarthy won the Men’s T20I Bowler of the Year award. For International recognition, Kane Williamson won Men’s ODI Batter of the Year, and his teammate Matt Henry earned Men’s ODI Bowler of the Year. In women’s cricket, the Top batter, Smriti Mandhana, received the award for Women’s Batter of the Year, and all-rounder Deepti Sharma got Women’s Bowler of the Year.

Players Share Their Emotions

After receiving the special honour for leading India to the Champions Trophy 2025 title, Rohit Sharma spoke about the success.

“Look, I love that team. Loved playing with them. It’s a journey we were all a part of for many years. It’s not about one or two years of work — it was years in the making. We’d come close to winning a trophy many times, but just couldn’t get over the line. That’s when we realised we had to try something different."

“There are always two sides to it — the thought of doing something, and then actually doing it. It can’t be done by one or two players. Everyone had to buy into that vision, and the fact that they did was crucial,” he added.

Legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, also shared his thoughts about the current state of West Indies cricket.

“If you want to get things done, you have to have the capital to do it. But at the same time, I would like to urge Roston Chase and the other guys to do they have the cricket at heart? Do they really want to play for the West Indies? And that is the most important thing because you would find a way.”

New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson talked about the team’s greatest achievement on New Zealand’s remarkable 3-0 Test series victory in India. He also expressed his commitment to international cricket.

"I still love playing the game, and every opportunity to represent New Zealand remains special. Looking back on my international career, I feel incredibly grateful for the journey. There have been transitions with new players coming in, and for me, it has been about moving from captaincy to continuing as part of the group. I still feel connected to that community and want to contribute to a team that is heading in the right direction. There is always plenty to look forward to.”
