For Suresh, it is a proud moment as he made his debut, and this win cements his position in the team. The audience was waiting keenly for this, and Suresh and Nagal didn't disappoint them either.

Dhakshineshwar Suresh Makes Winning Davis Cup Debut with Gritty Victory Over Jerome Kym

The match started with Dhakshineswar Suresh pitted against Jerome Kym of Switzerland with a score of 7(7)-6(4), 6-3. The match took place in Biel, Switzerland, on Friday, 12th September. It was a tough challenge as it took place in the indoor courts and Indian players are more used to playing in outdoor courts, and Suresh did struggle initially, but found a way with an early momentum. The second set was interesting with things spiced up as Jerome started taking hard shots, but Suresh had the final laugh with 6-3.  Suresh, in his post-match interview, said, “That was a big plus for me… I’ve played on some pretty big stages with crowd and stuff, so I felt pretty comfortable. I trusted my game… being indoors, hard courts, which is one of my strengths.”

Sumit Nagal’s Composed Win Puts India on Brink of Davis Cup Triumph

Sumit in the second match faced Marc-Andrea Huesler, and he took very less time to seal the match with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4). In his post-match interaction, he said, “It felt good to be back. I tried to stay composed in key moments, especially in the tiebreak, and limiting mistakes was crucial.” The calm and composure of Nagal helped him reach the victory line and became a key factor for India in the Davis Cup. Now the second day will be more interesting as the doubles will have N. Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli. They will be facing Jakub Paul and Dominic Stricker of Switzerland. The Indian team will hope to keep the same momentum in this match as well.
