Hardik Pandya Ruled Out Due to Quadriceps Strain, Will Miss Upcoming Australia ODI Series

Pakistan was seen at ease when Hardik Pandya was seen off the pavilion in the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 finals. However, it raised some concerns among Pandya’s fans. India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya was first spotted wincing during India’s Super Four clash against Sri Lanka, where Pandya bowled an over before leaving with visible discomfort in his left thigh, leaving the fans wanting more of him.

The issue was described as a ‘niggle’ by the medical staff after the quick initial assessments; however, a quadriceps strain was confirmed in the subsequent scans, leading Pandya to be ruled out during the finals between India and Pakistan.

As per the reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recommended a rest and rehabilitation of at least four weeks for Pandya, which naturally rules him out from the upcoming ODI series in Australia, also making his chances of being available in the T20 leg of that tour slimmer.

The severity of Pandya’s quadriceps injury is not revealed; however, based on the suggested four-week rest recommendation, it appears to be a moderate strain. The sports medicine guidelines recommend a recovery time between one to three weeks for a mild strain, while serious tears can demand a recovery period of up to six weeks or longer. The quadriceps muscle group is situated in the front of the thigh, which supports the high-intensity movements like jumping, bowling, and sprinting, movements all necessary for Pandya’s game.

At present, Pandya’s immediate focus would be on a speedy recovery and taking some well-deserved rest. On the other hand, both the team management and his supporters would hope to see him bouncing back in international cricket soon.
