The wait is over, ICC has officially confirmed the list of teams that will be competing for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. With India winning the title in 2024, all eyes are set on who’s going to lift the silverware for 2026.
A total of 20 teams would compete against each other for the title of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 champions. The top three spots were confirmed beforehand, whereas the final three spots are now taken by Nepal, Oman, and the UAE. The final three spot holders have qualified via the ‘Asia/East Asia-Pacific qualifiers.’
In addition to their co-host title, India would enter the tournament with their champions title earned by defeating South Africa in 2024. Similarly, Sri Lanka, alongside India, would enter as the co-host of the championship.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies have secured their spots in the tournament by qualifying under the category of “Top 7 finishers of T20WC 2024.”
Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan have qualified for the tournament with their “ICC Men’s T20 Team Rankings.” Whereas Italy would be seen for the first time on the field, as it has qualified alongside the Netherlands in the ‘Europe Qualifier.’ Namibia and Zimbabwe have qualified under the ‘Africa Qualifier.’

The 2026 tournament would follow the same format as of 2024 tournament, with 20 teams competing in four different groups of five in the initial stage, with the top two teams from each group proceeding to the Super Eight phase, where again they will be split into two groups of four. The top two teams from the Super Eight Group will pave their way to the semi-finals, setting up a thrilling showdown for the title of Champions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
