Reality show Bigg Boss Kannada faces a big hurdle as the production studio wherein the show's shooting was in progress was served a closure notice by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on Monday. The show, which was being shot in Bengaluru South District's Bidadi, faces the looming threat of immediate closure over violations of environmental regulations.

On September 16, the State Level Enforcement Committee (SLEC) meeting resulted in the Board directing Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures), an  amusement park, to cease all its operations at the premises immediately.

Moreover, Ramanagara District's deputy commissioner is to seize the unit, and the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited's managing director was ordered to cut off the power supply to the amusement park.

In the official letter that was issued by KSPCB, it was alleged that the amusement park, located in Plot 24 and 26 in Bidadi Hobli, was operating without prior approval from the board. Further, non-conformity relating to proper wasteland treatment guidelines was also cited in the letter.

The Board's official communication stated, "The said premises are being used for large-scale entertainment and studio operations without obtaining the required Consent for establishment and Consent for Operation under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981."

The notice added, "In view of the violations observed, you are hereby directed to close down the operations with immediate effect and to furnish an explanation to this office within the stipulated period."

This was not the first time the unit was issued a notice by the authority. Earlier, in March of 2024, a similar notice was generated, and the unit was inspected in June 2024. The same pattern of non-compliance with the guidelines was observed the previous year as well.

Hosted by Kannada film actor Kichcha Sudeep, the 12th season of Bigg Boss Kannada is a reality show that started airing from September 28. With this new hurdle, the future of the reality show remains uncertain.
