The match between Emma Raducanu and Indonesian Janice Tjen was part of the second round at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. First set with both players ready with their fierce boots and the racket to unleash their performance. Raducanu looked quite sharp and bold as she was ready for the Indonesian counterpart. The striking of the ball with her usual style gave her the edge from the first set onwards, and this had put Tjen under sustained pressure throughout the match. The first set ended with 6-2, and this included the aggressive serves that were put in by Raducanu. It seemed like a Godzilla standing against a tiger. The court positioning of Raducanu and the precise baseline she used made it more entertaining to watch. Tjen looked mostly off balance due to the timed backhand slices by Raducanu.

Raducanu's Brilliance Secures a Commanding 6-1 Second Set

In the second set, Raducanu got an early lead of 2-0, and since she was already used to the pitch, she took little time to gain momentum in this set as well. Tjen was trying to come in between by pushing and taking some hard shots, but Raducanu's experience took the upper hand. The most interesting thing to notice was the clever use of the backhand and the very fast change of pace that led to a few error shots by Tjen and gave a commanding lead of 5-0 to Raducanu. By the end of the second set of the scores looked like 6-1, and by now it was quite clear that Raducanu has already won.

This victory reminded me of the 2021 Raducanu and how the same legacy and resilience she still carries as she looks ahead to a very bright US Open 2025, as this win is going to give her a very strong moral boost.
