Kriish Tyagi is the only Indian player in the US Open 2025, junior category, which is scheduled to start from August 31. He is only 18 years old, hailing from the state of Karnataka. He initially started as a swimmer at the age of 10 and eventually switched to tennis, which he realized was his real forte and passion. At such a young age, Kriish had already done what most of his age can't imagine, he had been a representative of his nation at the Wimbledon and the Australian Open, the two most prestigious tournaments for a tennis player to be in. He had mentioned in an interview to the Indian Express, "Hitting with the players, being a part of that environment, made me feel like I belonged", he said.

He also says there is one key thing he would like to bring to the upcoming US Open: strength, mental resilience, and, most importantly, physical dominance. This is quite unexpected from a young 18-year-old guy like Kriish, and yet quite interestingly, unlike most of the GenZ's, he chose tennis as his sole goal, and here he stands today as the icon for the youth and the sole representative in the US Open 2025 Junior tennis championship. He is the current number one from India in the junior category. As someone who doesn't like to be much in the spotlight, Kriish got into the limelight after his Wimbledon win, says there is no pressure as the only Indian in the US Open before leaving for the tournament.

He had paired up with South Africa's Connoir Doig, a young duo, and both of them had advanced to the quarter finals, and this made the event more remarkable, especially given the massive support base their opponents, the British, had. The singles match that they played went off smoothly, but the main magic and drama started to unfurl from the doubles, where they bagged a massive, shocking their counterparts. The match was quite intense, and both the duo were under immense pressure, but as the match progressed, momentum touched their feet, and a huge round of applause from the crowd for the youngsters. He had been trained rigorously under the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association and received moral support from them as well. He mentioned how he used the energy of the crowd for their home team in his victory. Tyagi will also be competing in the ITF J300 events before he starts his US Open campaign as a smart move to improve his focus and sharpen his match fitness.

A Journey of Hopes and Dreams

Tyagi is not just an 18-year-old representing India but also a symbol of hope and promise. It shows every youth out there that it is sheer dedication, resilience, and hard work that made him go to that position. He is an inspiration to those millions out there and carrying the emotions and aspirations of 1.5 billion Indians, and as we wait for his electrifying performance and the magic in the courts, one more Kriish Tyagi may be working hard in his small court waiting to represent India one day.
