Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield produced a memorable innings in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semifinal against India at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. The 22-year-old scored 119 runs off 93 balls, guiding Australia towards a strong total after captain Alyssa Healy chose to bat first.

Healy fell early for 5, but Litchfield built a crucial 155-run partnership with Ellyse Perry. Her innings featured 17 fours and 3 sixes and came at a strike rate of 127.96, placing Australia in a dominant position during the high-pressure knockout clash.

Litchfield’s hundred set multiple new records. She became the youngest player to score a century against India in Women’s World Cup history, breaking Karen Rolton’s 2005 record. She also became the youngest batter to score a century in a Women’s World Cup knockout match, overtaking Laura Wolvaardt’s record set just one day earlier in the first semifinal.

Her century came off 76 balls, making it the fastest century in a Women’s World Cup knockout match and the quickest against India in the tournament’s history.

This was Litchfield’s third ODI century, her second against India, and her first in this World Cup. She was eventually dismissed by Amanjot Kaur in the 28th over. Australia, powered by Litchfield’s historic ton and strong partnerships, finished with a commanding total of 338 runs, setting India a massive chase in the semifinal at DY Patil Stadium.
