'Tis the fate of any estranged couple in tinsel town, rumours rarely do them alone. Such is the case with Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal, who seem to be at the top of the headlines even four months after their divorce. Both sides have been responding to fire with fire with bizarre claims and allegations. While Dhanashree claimed that she "caught him (Chahal) cheating" two months into their marriage, Chahal shocked fans wearing a t-shirt with the words "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy" emblazoned on the front, cheekily alluding to the claim that Dhanashree demanded an exorbitant sum of money as alimony.
Now, comedian Samay Raina, fresh off an internet controversy himself, has added more fuel to the fire with none other than RJ Mahvash, Chahal's rumoured girlfriend. In a podcast skit promoting Renée Cosmetics, Mahvash and Raina took many in-cheek digs at the couple, all without directly taking names.
The banter began with Samay asking Mahvash what her favourite letter was, to which she replied "M", referring to herself. And when Mahvash asked Samay the same question in turn, the comedian quipped "U" and "Z", referring to Yuzvendra Chahal.
Drama hit a new level when Mahvash asked if everything in Samay’s life was sorted. He replied that after a “Rise and Fall in the first two months”, everything is sorted now, with the "rise and fall" remark being a clear nod to Dhanashree’s claim about Yuzvendra cheating "two months into" their wedding.
These quips and banters were interspersed with Mahvash cheekily promoting Renée Cosmetics products. A very clever way to make sure that the digs and quips aren't a bit too on the nose. And the fun doesn't end here! At the end of the podcast segment, Samay teased about Dhanashree’s alimony, asking, “What’s half of 8 crore?” to which Mahvash answered, “4 crore.” Samay’s smirk was all the answer we needed to know that the dig was very intentional and very direct. The final punch came when he removed his jacket to reveal a t-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy," an exact replica of Chahal's divorce proceeding t-shirt.
Chahal himself has also become a part of this banter. Samary shared a screenshot of a video call with Chahal on Instagram, captioning it, “Love you, my sugar daddy.” Yuzvendra responded in kind, warning, “Be ready for one more case."
