India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has provided a health update after sustaining a rib injury during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney. His message on social media brought relief to fans and teammates, who have been concerned about his condition since the incident.

The injury occurred on October 25, 2025, when Iyer attempted a diving stop near the boundary line. He landed awkwardly on his left side, resulting in pain around the rib and abdominal region. Medical assessment later confirmed a spleen laceration. He was immediately placed under observation, and the BCCI medical unit has been overseeing his recovery.

After several days of treatment and rest, Iyer addressed supporters through a X (Twitter) post, writing:
“I’m currently in the recovery process and getting better every passing day. I’m deeply grateful for all the wishes and support I’ve received — it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts.”

Iyer has been a vital part of India’s middle order, offering stability and composure in the ongoing season. His absence creates a noticeable gap in the batting lineup. The medical team will continue to assess his progress, and any decision on his return will depend on full clearance and subsequent match fitness.

For now, Iyer’s message has provided reassurance, and the team hopes for his steady and complete recovery before he returns to training and competitive cricket.
