From 2002 until 2007, Tobey Maguire had portrayed the iconic and beloved role of Spider-Man. He played the superhero in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3. Fans have been inquisitive about whether the actor would ever reprise his role as Spider-Man in upcoming films ever since his franchise was discontinued. When he reappeared as the superhero to assist Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield in the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, expectations were higher. Now, Rumours are afoot that Tobey Maguire is set to reprise his iconic Spider-Man/Peter Parker role in a new instalment in the franchise.
It's interesting to note that Mattson Tomlin, co-writer of The Batman and The Batman 2, has been attempting to get Tobey back into the action for a potential fourth Spider-Man film. The writer has revealed that he hasn't yet been requested to totally abandon the notion, despite the lack of a clear response. Tomlin responded to a fan's inquiry regarding the potential for Spider-Man 4 in a related tweet. "Slow and steady wins the race," he retorted. I haven't received a "no" yet, but there won't be anything to say about that for a long time (if ever), because it involves a lot of people, politics, and positive aspects that have nothing to do with me.
The writer had previously responded to a tweet regarding the subjects he would like to explore in a potential Spider-Man 4 project. Speaking candidly about the different concepts, Tomlin said he would be open to penning a tale in which Spider-Man is "juggling being a husband and a father."
