US Open 2025: Anisimova Stuns Swiatek, Osaka Reaches First Semifinal Since 2020

The drama and the surprise reached their stylish as the women's quarterfinals opened up at the US Open. Amanda Anisimova stunned her world No. 2 and Polish opponent Iga Świątek in straight sets, whereas for the first time since 2020, Naomi Osaka wobbled imperfectly and plodded her way past Lady Karolína Muchová to reach her first-ever Grand Slam semifinal. These two palms advertise one of the most intriguing clashes that have ever happened at Flushing Meadows in times.

Anisimova Turns the Tables on Swiatek

Amanda Anisimova was two months back at the mercy of Świątek in the Wimbledon finalwinning no game whatsoever. With this being at the Arthur Ashe, but all the olden days rewrite themselves. Anisimova played varied intrepid tennis- from hitting and running to keeping the ball well from the baseline and defying Świątek's dictation-climaxing in a 6- 4, 6- 3 palm that will presumably be etched in history as one of the topmost dislocations in this event.

Anisimova could scarcely contain her exhilaration after the form "This is surely the biggest palm I have had in my life. I really came back from Wimbledon like this, that was really special to me today showed I can do it."

With gashes in her eyes, she held the applause from the Ashe crowd. "It feels surreal," she said. "Playing here is so freaking special. I have had the run of my life then."

For Anisimova, this wasn't only securing a semifinal ticket; it was her redemption, a way to take back the story in her own hands on the biggest stage of American tennis.

Naomi Osaka Starts New Chapter With Vintage Form

This was a vengeance trip for Anisimova, while Osaka's was on detection. The four-time Grand Slam champion took down Karolína Muchová 6- 4, 7- 6( 7- 3). The match was a battlefield, truly tested with power and tolerance. At that point,  her serve had come as a deadly armament again, and so it came to her deliverance during the match when  Muchová's variety and touch put her under pressure.

"Actually, I was just trying to hang in there and see if I got an occasion," Osaka said. "That was a veritably delicate match. I am just really thankful to be then."

The mama of one confessed that her feelings overflowed after returning to such a grand stage after such a long interval." I am surprised I am not crying," she laughed." I was standing over there watching and hoping I could have the occasion to play on this court again. This is like my dream is coming true."

A Semifinal of Stories

And now, it's both a chance for redemption for Osaka and Anisimova to pull themselves together one more time and engage in battle for a semifinal. One rewrites the story into a painful history; the other is reclaiming her air of a champion. Eager with the budding energy of a freshman, Anisimova stands opposite the calm, formerly settled from the recollections brushed off by Osaka.

Whatever happens in this women's semifinal will, without fail, dole out top tennis seasoned with meaning. It felt classical in its buildup, with all the US Open where the stories more frequently than not overshadow the scorelines.
