It was another Carlos Alcaraz classic at the US Open today as he delivered a scintillating performance by defeating the Italian giant Luciano Darderi with a clean set of 6–2, 6–4, 6–0 on the lawns of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Alcaraz is the second seed in the tournament and he used different tactics which included precision, combined power, and advanced to the next round quite skillfully. He seemed quite aggressive from the very start and showed the audience why he is the most fearful player in the tournament.

Alcaraz’s Variety and Power Leave Darderi Struggling at the US Open

The first serve that Darderi gave was broken in the very first set, and the groundstrokes by Alcaraz kind of pushed Darderi to go out of his comfort zone. The variation in the pace and variety made Darderi struggle like anything, and within 40 minutes the first set was over and it was won by 6-2 which set the tone for the rest of the match. In the second, the Darderi tried to give a counterattack and was almost successful in pushing Alcaraz into long rallies. The score was equalised at 3-3, and Alcaraz, despite Darderi's resistance, managed to win the set by 6-4. When it was the third set, Alcaraz suddenly became very energized, and there was a dip in Darderi's performance as well as in his energy.

Alcaraz Crushes Darderi with Ruthless Final Set at US Open

Alcaraz started taking very strong shots, and in retaliation, there was nothing from Darderi's end. This led to a 6-0 end of the set, which was a ruthless display of Alcaraz's dominance. The match was almost one-sided, with onlya  little fight in the second set by Darderi but it was mostly dominated by Alcaraz. He would bank on this experience for his future matches, and losing against one of the world's best will be a memorable one for Darderi.
