Yes, it's Iga Swiatek once again. She faced the Dutch qualifier Suzan Lamens in the second round, and it was one of the most anticipated matches of women's singles. It proved to be a much more challenging one than the initial scoreline. At the end, Swiatek snatched away the match with 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, but there was the resilience of Swiatek and fearless and brave shots by Lamens.

Swiatek Dominant Start Sets the Tone with a Commanding 6-1 Opener

The opening set was quite clear as Swiatek started off quite smoothly and, in her usual Swiatek way, used the sharp movements and the heavy topspin forehand. This forced Lamens to go on the defensive. A 5-0 lead at the very end is enough, and a player cannot ask for more than such a good start, and the beautiful use of precise angles and consistent depth was quite instrumental in dismantling Lamens' baseline defense. Although it went to 6-1, Swiatek took little time to wrap the set in just half an hour. This kind of gave a prediction that the match might follow a straightforward script. The second and the third sets were quite contested ones and a lot of fight of the nerves, especially the third one. In the second set, it was 6-4, and a final 5-4 boomer in the final set led Swiatek to seal off the match with another victory.
