Pegula’s Smart Tactics and Early Dominance Crush Li in Straight Sets
It was a one sided match with 6-1 in the first set by Pegula and she gave no chance to Li to bounce back from the shock and gained momentum. The early serves were useful for Pegula as she was looking to take more hard shots and got an early lead of 4-0 which was enough to break Li's confidence. The consistency and dedication on keeping the early serves proved to be fatal for Li and Pegula was changing the variations in between which is a very smart tactic as often change in paces confuses the opponent and the same happened with Li. Pegula Overpowers Li’s Resistance to Secure Quarterfinal Spot
The second set, Li tried for a comeback by taking backhand shots against Pegula and for a brief moment she was able to do that as well by gaining an upper hand but Pegula took very less time to come back in and take control again. It seemed like a match between a godzilla and a ant trying to showcase her talent but in vain. The deep returns and smart change in pace by Pegula ensured that Li doesn't cross the borderline and that's what happened exactly. The set ended with 6-2 with Pegula advancing to the quarter finals and the round applause of the crowd. It was a high energy match but Li trying to leave a mark but eventually fell short.
