A dime, that's what the quarter finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium was between Jessica Pegula, an American, and Barbora Krejčíková, a former French champion. This win was quite vital for the American as now she advances into the semi-finals. The scores of the match looked like this 6-3, 6-3. An immense moment of pride and the roar and applause of the audience at the stands made it worth it. Tears were there in her eyes, and as in any Hollywood movie as we call it a happy ending for Pegula. Barbora, with her upperhand shots, was trying to put pressure on Pegula.

Pegula's Patience, Precision, and a Place in the Semifinals

It was, however, a failed attempt as the patience of Pegula and her vulture-like shots made it worth watching. She is perhaps the epitome of the Statue of Liberty in terms of her patience. If Pegula had to be given some other profession, it would be an artist. The way she crafted her shots scored within half an hour, that is 6-3. In her post-match interview, as she was booming with happiness, she said, “Barbora’s such a tricky player. You can’t ever relax because she finds ways to make you uncomfortable. I just tried to stay solid and not overthink.” She also reflected on the energy of the crowd: “It means so much to play here, to feel that support. To be in the semifinals in my home Slam this is what you dream about.” Barbora had a sad exit from the tournament, but her courage and fight deserved praise. She kept fighting till the end, and as Mike Tyson says, don't speak before the match, but show it in the match.

Pegula Holds Nerve at Crucial Moment to Storm Into US Open Semifinals

Barbora, however, gave a series of praises for Pegula in the interview: She was so steady today. I felt like every time I tried to change the rhythm, she had an answer. That’s why she deserved to win.” In the second set, a very high voltage and tense moment arrived at 3-3, but Pegula found a way and eventually sealed the set with 6-3. That's the victory for the American she was waiting for, and tonight she will have a sweet sleep, and she will be eyeing the title with the semi-finals decked up.
