Virat Kohli to Leave RCB After 18 Years in IPL?

Virat Kohli’s time with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru has sparked speculation recently, but sources reassure fans that the Indian cricket icon will continue to play for RCB in the IPL. According to RevSportz, Kohli has declined to renew a side commercial contract, separate from his main playing agreement, which led to rumors about a potential exit after 18 remarkable years.

At 36, Kohli has been the heartbeat of RCB since 2008, scoring over 8,000 runs, the most in IPL history. While the side contract decision may reflect minor changes in brand partnerships, it does not affect his on-field role. The franchise itself is currently up for sale, which could bring subtle operational shifts, but Kohli’s participation remains certain.

This move aligns with his earlier decision to hand over captaincy to Rajat Patidar before the 2025 season, a change that propelled RCB to its first IPL title, ending an 18-year wait. Unlike MS Dhoni, who has prolonged his IPL tenure, Kohli seems inclined to focus on ODIs and family life in London while continuing to give his best for RCB.

Though neither Kohli nor the franchise has made an official statement, the RevSportz report and these updates confirm that while commercial arrangements may evolve, RCB fans can expect Kohli to remain a key player on the field.
