Just a few days to witness the India vs Australia ODI series. The  Indian star Virat Kohli posted a motivational message with a promotional clip on X (Twitter), writing, "Failure teaches you what victory never will". The post, within hours, went viral and raised questions about his future in ODI and the 2027 World Cup.

After landing in Perth on October 16, he shared a post that sparked various speculations among fans. Kohli wrote: “The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up.”

The message went viral and had over 178,000 views within 25 minutes. He is someone who doesn’t usually share personal updates on the platform, but now suddenly shocked the cricketing world with a quote.

Virat Kohli last appeared in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where he displayed outstanding performance against Pakistan and Australia. He announced his retirement from the T20 and Test formats, and continues to play in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Now the Indian team is all set to face Australia, and Gautam Gambhir is happy about the return of key players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

“They (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli) are quality players, and their experience will be invaluable. With the 2027 World Cup still two and a half years away, it’s important to stay focused on the present. Kohli and Rohit are both exceptional players, and their return will be a big boost. Hopefully, they have a successful tour, and more importantly, the team comes out with a strong series performance in Australia,” Gambhir said after the India vs West Indies series.

Reacting to Kohli's tweet, fans started spreading different rumors. They expressed that it might be a motivational message for himself to play in the ODI or a signal of his future in the ODI. The media also covered the news without fully understanding the story behind his sudden post. It has not been officially confirmed whether Virat Kohli will be part of the 2027 World Cup; however, fans are connecting the post with his chances of playing in the tournament. As the ODI series against Australia approaches, everyone is waiting to see the comeback of Virat Kohli. His performance in future matches might provide more clarity on his message on social media.
