Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally responded to his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma's infidelity claims that have gained traction on the internet ever since their highly publicised and messy separation.
For the unversed, Dhanashree recently appeared on the reality show Rise and Fall, and in a chat with fellow contestant and actor Kubbra Sait, alleged that she had caught Chahal cheating on her "two months into their marriage."
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Chahal rebukes these claims as "baseless and exhausting," and comments: “I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life and everyone else should do, too." He also clarified that he has put all these things behind him and has moved on from this phase of his life.
Chahal further examines the "absurdity" and these claims, and sets the record straight on the wild allegations. "Hamari shaadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mein cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. But some people are still stuck there… unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai, so they can continue doing that. I am not concerned or affected," he stated.
He also said that this is the “last time” he is addressing this chapter of his life. “Mai iss chapter ko bhula chuka hun. Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter know it. Mere liye chapter closed hai. I don’t want to address it ever again," Chahal asserted.
Now, the 35-year-old cricketer just wants to focus on his future, and emphasised the need for prioritising his personal growth and career. "I am focusing on my life and on my game,” Chahal concluded.
